Acting Coach, Teacher & Theatre Director

MARK “Modz” MODZELEWSKI

Mark “Modz” Modzelewski is an American actor, director and teacher who has worked with thousands of students over more than 15 years in the classroom, plus over 20 years in summer camps and after-school programs. He has taught theatre, technical theatre and English in schools in the USA, the UK and Bulgaria, and at Theater Visions he leads acting classes, theatre games courses, public speaking sessions and General American dialect coaching, all in English.

Modz earned a BA in Theatre Performance from Fordham University (NYC, USA) and an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Essex (East 15 Acting School, UK). He also holds a CELTA from International House London, and has trained at GITIS in Moscow, the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) in Denpasar, Bali, and Southern Oregon University in Ashland. As an actor, he has performed on stage, in commercials and on film. His classes draw on all of this: playful, practical and focused on building confidence, whether a student wants a stage career or simply wants to speak with more clarity and presence.

He believes that anyone can act if given the right roles and opportunity. His has learned numerous styles over the years including Stanislavski and Meyerhold, but draws from many areas depending on the needs of the performer and the performance. Modz has directed over 30 productions including musicals. He’s excited by the opportunities that can be carved out here in Bulgaria.
